Sandman, where art thou?

Oh man, these past two days has seen me sleeping at around 11.30pm, waking at around 5am and then probably taking a nap around 3pm on Saturday. Basically, my sleeping hours have gone bonkers. Well, it happened after I went to my friend's house at around 1am on Friday to play DMC3 on my PS2.

Played until almost 8am before I left, during which my friend had fallen asleep hours ago since he had class at 9am. I totally LOVE that game (I love it over GOW), even though most of the time it's just kicking my ass.

When I reached my own home which is just about 3 minutes walk away, I was rather miffed to find out that my housemates had locked me out of the house. The door has two locks, one of which none of us has the key to, and they happily locked it probably assuming that I was asleep in my room or something.

Pressing the bell a bizillion times didn't help and calling my housemate's mobile phone was futile. There was only one route left to take. (Apart from trying to break in to my own home)

I proceeded to head down to the nearby McDonald's for breakfast. Stoned to the max, I decided to just wait till one of them got up and decided to go out of the home.

Luckily when I went back that particular lock was unlocked. Can't say how relieved I was to get into my own room and have a great shower before going to sleep. Woke up around 6pm only to sleep at 11.30pm and alter my biological clock apocalyptically.

Well at least I spend more time practising my guitar hehe. Getting used to the 5 patterns of the pentatonic scale. Still can't solo for shit though.

Right now I'm still a bit stoned, can't seem to bullshit either. Mental constipation I think.

Oh one last great update, both classes are now on Tuesday! So that means I can spend almost 6 days in Sg when I go back this round. Sheesh, I'm getting boring...it's time to post and log out :(

Been A While

Damn I'm getting lazy to blog in KL. Wait a minute, I didn't blog when I was in Sg for 4 days either haha. Let's see, major updates...

Had only ONE match with Meyer during my 4 days return to Sg, managed to win 6-1, 6-1! Heehee, was on fire that day, but main thing was that Meyer lost too many points on service. Well at least I didn't carry my racquet from KL back to Sg for nothing :D

Shucks man, why are guitarists expected to SOLO all the time? Ok I admit I myself yearn to hear solos on records, but I wanna hear good solos, not weird BS-sounding stuff like that which I play every week. My classmates mostly can solo, I can't!

Partly it's cause I'm not very fluent in the pentatonic scale, I can remember 2 shapes and I don't get many ideas when soloing within them. What happens is I end up playing stuff which sounds lame to myself, like repeating patterns and non-musical ideas. (By the way, I think guitarists are responsible for putting out some of the shittiest music around. I know other genres have shit also, but guitar music has a lot of self-indulgent crap whose only purpose seems to be for showing off)

I mean, I feel like a primary school kid asked to write a novel or something with an advanced dictionary, but without any inkling of how to make the story appealing.

In musical terms that is like saying you've the scales and patterns, but if you play them anyhow you sound incoherent to the song. That's what I feel anyway. I mean, not everyone who uses the same words that Shakespeare uses would write stuff as brilliant as his. Well anyway, I'm gonna work on making better sounding solos hehe.

Next week I've got assessment which was postponed from today. Basically got to do some sight-reading and perform a piece which you think can showcase your proficiency on the instrument of your choice.

I've chosen to perform Praying Hands from Castlevania 2 : Belmont's Revenge. I think it's a damn beautiful song, only worry is whether I can do it justice next week or not...

Oh yah, I've lugged my PS2 over along with DMC3 and GOW (for those of you who know what they are, cheers!) but the TV in my unit sucks; it sputters and goes psychedelic after approximately 5 minutes of playing so I've lent it to a friend first.

Ok, I think I've overtyped, it's time to go home and practice my Praying Hands again. And the solos...
